Con PresbyMAX® por primera vez es posible tratar problemas de visión cercana, visión lejana y pacientes con astigmatismo que tienen una capacidad limitada para enfocar de lejos a cerca. PresbyMAX® can correct visual disturbances such as astigmatism, myopia or hyperopia along with presbyopia. These patients are able to read a book, drive a car, play sports without the need for eyeglasses. Both eyes are treated simultaneously and both eyes are able to see in both distances.
 
PresbyMAX® is a safe and effective procedure for emetropes, myopes and hyperopes as well as patients with astigmatism.
 
How does PresbyMAX work?
 
Tradition software for the correction of presbyopia have centered the treatment on the creation of a high level of spherical aberration in the cornea, which requires neuroprocessing of the brain. The PresbyMAX® software does NOT induce corneal aberrations but adds energy to the cornea similar to refractive corneal implants creating a multifocal surface minimizing spectacle dependance and increases depth of focus without losing distance vision.
 
Is PresbyMAX the same as LASIK?
 
The Amaris 750s excimer laser is utilized in both LASIK and PresbyMAX®. But, LASIK uses a software that permits the correction of astigmatism, myopia and hyperopia. PresbyMAX® software corrects those previous defects but also corrects presbyopia. PresbyMAX® software is used exclusively in these patients.
 
Will I be completely spectacle free?
 
With PresbyMAX® patients recover around 80 to 90 % of both distance and near vision. It is possible that patients undergoing this procedure may need glasses to drive (specially at night) or to read very small print. Studies have demonstrated refractive stability at 5 years after surgery. It is important to note that presbyopia laser correction is not permanent. The crystalline lens suffers natural changes over time due to aging. Therefore, patients will eventually require glasses in the future.
 
 
 

Excimer Laser AMARIS 1050RS

The FEMTO LDV Z8 creates the perfect corneal surface so that the AMARIS 1050RS can create the optimal visual conditions to remove the visual defect. The AMARIS 1050RS excimer laser utilizes the Schwind ORK CAM software to measure all optical aberrations utilizing the Sirius Topographer and create a personalized ablation profile which is then transferred to the Laser.

Previously, a machine called a microkeratome created a mechanical cut with a metal blade so the excimer laser could correct the visual defect. Today, we can program the FEMTO LDV Z8 to make the desired flap diameter size and thickness with extreme precision. This not only increases the safety and precision of our results but also reduces the risk of infection by reducing the amount of surgical tools needed during the surgical procedure.
